Ampli Ventures invests in Profitmetrics
Swedish Ampli Ventures AB Invests in Danish Profitmetrics ApS
Profitmetrics ApS ("ProfitMetrics", www.profitmetrics.io), a leading software platform for analyzing profitability in eCommerce, has successfully secured a strategic investment from Swedish B2B SaaS investor Ampli Ventures AB ("Ampli Ventures", www.ampli.vc). The investment round totals approximately EUR 2 million.
Helping eCommerce Achieve Profitability
ProfitMetrics (profitmetrics.io) was founded by Frederik Boysen, drawing on his experience from founding and operating eCommerce businesses and navigating the challenges of balancing growth with profitability. One of Frederik's key insights was recognizing that a large part of the industry's profitability issues stemmed from unprofitable digital advertising. Traditional metrics like Return-on-Advertising-Spend ("ROAS") emphasize growth without accounting for the underlying profitability. To address this, Frederik established ProfitMetrics in 2019 to provide eCommerce businesses with real-time, actionable insights into their profitability. The company also introduced a new metric for evaluating advertising performance, Profit-on-Advertising-Spend ("POAS"), now a registered trademark in the EU, UK, and US.
eCommerce in 2024: Shifting Toward Profitability with POAS as the Industry Standard
With tightened consumer spending, constrained capital markets, and intensified global competition, the urgency for eCommerce businesses to achieve profitability is greater than ever. Frederik Boysen comments: "We are witnessing a strong trend towards profitability in eCommerce. It feels like we are at a pivotal moment—businesses either become profitable or risk bankruptcy. We are currently growing our customer base by 5-10% every month. It seems as if POAS is well on its way to becoming the new industry standard in marketing."
Global Recognition and Expansion
ProfitMetrics is now serving customers across Europe and the US, with its platform becoming the go-to tool for leading marketing agencies focused on driving profitability for their clients. Many hundreds of agencies have integrated ProfitMetrics into their core operations, and the company’s international expansion has drawn attention from major industry players, including Google where Frederik is frequently invited to share his insights on the latest trends.
A Remote-First Company with Rapid Growth and Profitability
Established during the COVID-19 pandemic, ProfitMetrics adopted a "Remote First" approach from the outset. While headquartered in Lyngby, Denmark, the company’s 25 employees are distributed across various regions, including Germany, Austria, Portugal, Kosovo, Poland, Canada, and South America. ProfitMetrics is now one of, if not the, largest European player in its category and is growing fast, more than doubling Annual Recurring Revenues (“ARR”) during the last year. What's even more impressive is that the company has managed to scale rapidly while maintaining profitable operations, generating above 10% of ARR as free cash flow during the last year.
Strategic Investment for Product Innovation and Growth
The capital from Ampli Ventures will primarily be allocated to further product innovation and scaling commercial resources to meet growing demand. This investment marks the first significant capital injection in ProfitMetrics' five-year history, following smaller funding rounds with angel investors.
Frederik Boysen comments: "Ampli's strategic and analytical approach to SaaS growth, backed by years of industry experience, makes them the ideal investor and partner for ProfitMetrics. With their support, I am confident that we are equipped to take ProfitMetrics into the next phase of global expansion and continue leading the way in eCommerce profitability innovation."
Founded in 2022, Ampli Ventures aims to be the leading value-added investor for Nordic entrepreneurs in the B2B SaaS sector. The founding team brings deep experience in international expansion and strategy, with an investor base comprising successful Nordic B2B SaaS investors and entrepreneurs.
Adrian Iredahl, partner and co-founder of Ampli Ventures, states: "We are thrilled and honored to become co-owners of ProfitMetrics. We are impressed by the company's visionary approach and thought leadership in how to achieve profitable growth in eCommerce. Additionally, the company has demonstrated an impressive ability to attract partners and team members globally, crucial for B2B SaaS companies looking to scale rapidly. We are excited to support ProfitMetrics as it embarks on its next phase of international growth."
